Utilizing the DIR®/Floortime™ play based approach, I work together with parents and caregivers, facilitating purposeful parent-child interactions while also promoting developmental and communication capacities.  

 

Coupled with interactive problem-solving and co-regulation, scaffolding emerges allowing for other behavior challenges to be addressed in a supportive and compassionate way.   I emphasize the importance of following a child's lead in a purposeful and meaningful way, thereby strengthening important  relationships which in turn positively impacts a child's social and emotional development.

 

Play is a child's immediate and meaningful natural environment which provides the optimal medium for learning, development, problem solving and change. When children and teenagers have the space to freely express their emotions, they will be more likely to problem in the least threatening way.  At times treatment extends to siblings, extended families, school staff and other therapists (as needed) to provide the most holistic and comprehensive treatment.
